2006 UEFA Women's Under-19 Championship

The 9th U-19 Football Championship Women was held in the period from July 11 to 22 2006 in Switzerland. Germany won the tournament with a 3-0 victory over France. For Germany it was the fourth tournament victory. Game were eligible players who were born on 1 January 1987 or later.

Qualification

44 nations have registered for this year's tournament. Switzerland is automatically qualified as hosts, while Germany, France and Spain for the first qualifying round were given a bye.

The remaining 40 teams were divided into ten groups of four teams each. The group winners, the runners-up and the five best third reach the second qualifying round.

The remaining 28 teams will be divided into seven groups of four teams each. Only the group winners will qualify for the final tournament.
