2007 UEFA Women's Under-19 Championship

The 10th U-19 Football Championship Women was held in the period from 18 to 29 July 2007 in Iceland. Germany could defend a 2-0 victory after extra time against England his title. It was already the fifth success for the German team. Game were eligible players who were born on 1 January 1988 or later.

Qualification

For the tournament, a new qualification system has been introduced. Iceland qualified automatically as hosts. The remaining 44 reported national teams were divided into eleven groups of four teams each. The group winners and runners- automatically reached the second qualifying round. Then there were the two best third. However, only the respective results were used against the group winners and runners- To determine the best third. The first qualifying round was held in September and October 2006.

The remaining 24 teams were divided into the second qualifying round on six groups of four teams each. The six group winners and best runners qualified for the final tournament in Iceland. The tournaments of the second qualifying round were held in April 2007.

In addition to the European title at the final tournament, the four European starting points were awarded for the U -20 World Cup 2008. The four semi-finalists qualified for the World tournament in Chile, finished in third place at the European champions Germany.

First qualifying round

All games in Strumica (Macedonia).

The first qualifying round was for the German selection for a walk. With three significant victories the team of Maren Meinert loosely managed to qualify for the second round. The 18-0 victory over Georgia was the largest margin of victory in the history of the U-19 national team. Scorer was Maxine Mittendorf (FC Gütersloh 2000) with six goals.

Second qualifying round

All games in Büdelsdorf and Lübeck ( Germany ).

With three victories, the German selection clearly qualified for the finals in Iceland. Most successful German scorer was Isabel Kerschowski ( 1 FFC Turbine Potsdam) with three goals. Surprisingly Last was the Swedish team.
