2011 European Athletics Junior Championships

The 21st European Athletics Junior Championships were from 21 to 24 July 2011 at Kadrioru staadion held in the Estonian capital Tallinn.

It was attended by 954 athletes from 47 countries, with Germany with 85 people posted the greatest team, followed by France with 65, UK 57, Spain 55, Italy 53 and Russia 50 - the host country was represented by 27 sportsmen / women. All teams had 678 attendants.

Medals were awarded in 44 contests, 22 each for men and women. In essence, the disciplines were indeed the same as in European Athletics Championships in the main class, isolated, however, differences existed. For women, no 10,000 - meter race was held, but a 3000 - meter race. Both the men and the women's 10,000 - meter track Go replaced the longer road races, and there was no marathon. The men used in the throwing events, with the exception of the spear throw, lighter equipment and ran in the 110- meter hurdles lower hurdles. This also applied to the disciplines within the decathlon.

The services were moving at a consistently high level. Outstanding here were the junior world record of Russian Elena Laschmanowa in the 10,000 - meter track walking and the European junior record of German 4 x 100 - meter relay. There were eight other championship records and two national records. Successful athlete was the British sprinter Jodie Williams with two gold medals and one bronze medal. The Serbian middle distance runner Amela Terzić won two gold medals. For men, the French sprinter Jimmy Vicaut and the Spanish long-distance runner Gabriel Navarro get two wins. The medals table with 18 medals led Russia, including eight gold at. Germany scored a total of five medals more but less than a golden Russia. The placement of mirrors, in which the top eight athletes received any competition, but Germany was a clear margin on the first place. The only medal for the host country won Liina Laasma as champion in the javelin.
