2011 IRB Pacific Nations Cup

The Pacific Nations Cup 2011 was the sixth edition of rugby union tournament Pacific Nations Cup. It involved the national teams of Fiji, Japan, Samoa and Tonga. Between the 2nd and July 13, 2011 six matches were played, with each team once each competing against the other three. Five of the six games were played in Fiji, one in Japan. Originally, all games should have been held in Tokyo, they had to be postponed after the devastating Tōhoku earthquake in 2011 but.

The title was won for the first time in Japan. Although Tonga was at the same table many points the better game points ratio, but the tournament victory was due to the result of the mutual match to the Japanese.

The points distribution was as follows:

  • 4 points for a win
  • 2 points for a draw
  • 0 points for a loss (before possible bonus points )
  • 1 bonus point for four tries in a match
  • 1 bonus point for a loss by fewer than seven points difference
