Empire of Alexander the Great

  • First Diadochenkrieg breaks out (up to 320): The regent Perdiccas and his general Eumenes face an opposition of Antipater ( in Macedonia and Greece), Craterus ( Macedonia), Antigonus ( in Phrygia ), and Ptolemy ( Egypt ) against. While Eumenes in Asia Minor turns against Craterus and this overcomes in the Battle of the Hellespont and kills, Perdiccas marched to Egypt. But he fails in the spring of 320 BC, when he tried to cross the Nile and is then murdered by his own people.

Western Mediterranean

  • Humiliating defeat of the Roman army against the Samnites in the Battle of the Kaudinischen passports: Rome must give hostages, the army only after having shameful treatment ( " subjugation " ) off. The first phase of the Second Samnitenkriegs ends, Rome has to give up its colonies Fregellae and Cales.
