34th Infantry Division (Wehrmacht)

The 34th Infantry Division was a military major unit of the Wehrmacht.

History

The division was drawn up in April 1936 in the Falckenstein barracks in Koblenz in Military District XII and mobilized in August 1939 as part of the first wave formation. They moved into the Saar Palatinate defensive positions and took from there on the western part of the campaign.

In June 1941, she was involved in association with the Central Army Group in the invasion of the Soviet Union and was almost constantly involved in the next three years in combat operations. After heavy losses in the environment of the Cherkassy cauldron on Gniloy Tikich ( Гнилой Тикич ) south of Schaschkiw and in combat to Uman the 34th ID had to be filled in May 1944 by the Shadow Division Neuhammer (26th wave). In July 1944 she was transferred to the Army Department pliers to Italy, where they surrendered in April 1945.
