A Kiss to Build a Dream On is a song by Harry Ruby (music), Bert Kalmar and Oscar Hammerstein ( text ), which was published in 1951.

Ruby in 1935 wrote the melody Moonlight in the Meadows. For the Marx Brothers film scandal at the opera (1935 ), she received a new title and a new text by Bert Kalmar and Oscar Hammerstein, but was not used in the film. The song was known only as A Kiss to Build a Dream On Deadly by László Kardos ' movie musical Paving Sunset Strip ( Original title: The Strip, 1951), with Mickey Rooney, Sally Forrest and William Demarest in the lead roles. The song is featured in the film by Kay Brown and Louis Armstrong, received a 1952 Oscar nomination for Best Song.

At the end of December 1950 resulting filming for The Strip at the MGM studios was accompanied by Louis Armstrong Jack Teagarden, Barney Bigard, Earl Hines, Arvell Shaw and Cozy Cole.
