Abadiânia

Abadiânia is a comune ( município ) in the Brazilian state of Goiás. Internationally known is the place through the Casa de Dom Inacio, a spiritual center of the medium João de Deus.

Geographical location

Abadiânia is located about 25 km northeast of Anápolis and 110 km southwest of Brasília to the highway BR -060 ( Rodovia Governador Henrique Santillo ).

History

Pioneers of Minas Gerais and Goiás Corumbá de founded a settlement at the beginning of the nineteenth century. The fertile soil along the banks of the Rio Capivari and Caruru provided ideal conditions for agriculture and animal husbandry.

Local chronicles report that since 1874 Dona Emerenciana organized processions in honor of the Blessed Virgin Abadia D', which developed the region into a local pilgrimage center.

On 31 December 1943, the settlement was officially to the district ( distrito ) and on 20 October 1953 on the community ( muncipio ) levied.

Economy

The community Abadiânia erwirtschafte 2005 gross domestic product of approximately R $ 49.5 million ( per capita: R $ 3,891 ). The Human Development Index was 0.723 in the same year.
