ABBA - The Movie (English Title: ABBA - The Movie) 1977 was turned, directed by Lasse Hallström during the Australian tour of the Swedish pop group ABBA and produced in widescreen and with 4- channel sound.
Its world premiere was ABBA - The Movie on December 15, 1977 in the Australian cities of Sydney and Perth, European premiere was on December 26, 1977 in Stockholm and the London premiere, the film was on 16 February 1978 in Europe and Australia, one of the most successful. Movies of the year 1978.
Even though ABBA - shows the film many concert recordings, it's not about a documentary film of the ABBA tour, but it's a real game film, which tells the story of the reporter Ashley and his difficulties, an interview with the members of the successful pop group to get.
On 7 February 2006, the revised DVD production of the film in Stockholm received a Swedish Grammy Award.
Action
In the frame story, the reporter Ashley is the main character. He tries to get an interview with the ABBA Stars. This order of his stubborn and demanding editorial bosses leads him to a tumultuous chase through half of Australia without the ABBA -stars Ashley pointed out first. Always just before a possible interview happen Ashley curious and unfortunate incidents, so that he must postpone his interview again and put off his boss. Thus, the stations of the group during their Australian tour connected with the hunting of the reporter Ashley in the film until Ashley finally the group without warning and unspectacular meets in the hotel elevator and this finally gives him an in-depth exclusive interview.
Production
The production team used in scenes for the song Eagle called " Flutter Box", with an elevator ride could be simulated. Although computer effects were in the 1970s, just at the beginning of development, these scenes show already an amazing quality.
When, on March 3, 1977 began at 20:30 clock the first concert in Sydney and at the same time on Australian soil, the rain poured down on the 20,000 spectators and led to some obstacles: Constantly helpers were on the stage to the floor dry to wipe and distribute towels. Although in the four Australian cities of Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne, where the group's concerts were held, 50 hours of footage was recorded, this was only half of the planned 100 -minute film. Some scenes were therefore turned to the Australian tour yet in Swedish studios.
