The Abdou - Moumouni University of Niamey (French: Université Abdou Moumouni de Niamey ) is a state university in Niamey.

History

On September 6, 1971, created by Act of the Centre d' Enseignement Supérieur de Niamey, from 1973, the Université de Niamey emerged. The Agricultural Science and the Faculty of Medicine there since 1974, the laws, regulations and business faculty since 1980. In 1992, the University after the physicist Abdou Moumouni, who was rector from 1979 to 1983, was renamed Université Abdou Moumouni. In 1999 another name change in Université Abdou Moumouni de Niamey.

Personalities and alumni

The French linguist Robert Nicolaï founded in 1975, the Department of Linguistics at the Faculty of humanities and human sciences. The German ethnologist Gerd Spittler was repeatedly served as a visiting professor at the University of Niamey from 1984.

Among the graduates of the University include the Niger, Mahamadou Issoufou President and Prime Minister and Justice Minister Marou Amadou of Niger and the judge Mariama Cissé and writer Alfred Dogbé.
