Abu Sa'id Uthman II

Abu Said Uthman II ibn Yaqub (Arabic أبو سعيد عثمان بن يعقوب, Abū Sa ʿ DMG īd ʿ Uthman b Ya ʿ qūb; . † 1331 ) was the seventh Sultan of Marinids in Morocco ( 1310-1331 ).

Abu Said Uthman II joined the succession of Abu Rabia (reigned 1308-1310 ) of the Merinidenreich. Although it is considered fairly weak ruler, but he was the great builder historical significance. So under him the madrassas in New Fez (1320 ), the Madrasat as- sahridsch ( 1321 ) and the Madrasat al - Attarin ( 1323) were built in Fes. Since the madrasas served as educational institutions, Fez rose to become an important center of science in the Maghreb in the 14th century.

But this strong construction activity speaks to the economic prosperity of Morocco under his government. Abu Said Uthman II also promoted the descendants of Idrisids ( descendants of the Prophet Muhammad ), to thereby increase the legitimacy of the Marinids on. Under his successor, Abu l -Hasan (r. 1331-1351 ) came to the kingdom of the Maghreb Marinids the height of its power.
