Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television, Ljubljana

The Academy for Theatre, Radio, Film and Television (Slovenian: Academia za gledališče, radio, film in televizijo, AGRFT ) is a drama and film school in Ljubljana and the only one of its kind in Slovenia. Current Dean of the Academy is Miran Zupanič.

The Academy for Theatre, Radio, Film and Television is part of the University of Ljubljana, which is connected to international academic exchange programs such as the Socrates program and the Erasmus program.

History

Founded in the spring of 1945, immediately after the end of World War II as an academy of dramatic arts, and for the training of actors, screenwriters and playwrights, it goes back in the core on a 1943 by partisans furnished in the free part of the then occupied Slovenia training center.

In the course of the entry of television in Slovenia the late 50s television came in 1963 next to the theater disciplines also film and radio, and shortly afterwards added to the curriculum, and consequently renamed the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television. Since 1975, the Academy is a school of the University of Ljubljana.

Departments

The AGRFT divided into three departments and the affiliated Centre for Theatre and Film Studies (Slovenian: Center za teatrologijo in filmologijo ) with the library of the Centre for Theatre and Film Studies.

The AGRFT makes every year a maximum of 20 students in all subject areas. During the study, the students regularly attend film festivals - such as on -annual Munich International Short Film Festival at the International Film Festival in Munich. Since 1963, a total of around 400 students have completed their education with a diploma.
