Ace Durano

Joseph Felix Mari " Ace" Durano Hotchkiss ( born April 3, 1970 in Cebu City ) is a Filipino politician.

Biography

Joseph Durano comes from an influential political family from Cebu City. His grandfather Ramon M. Durano Sr. was a member of the House of Representatives from 1949 until the declaration of martial law by President, Ferdinand Marcos in 1972 and represented there the constituency I Cebu Province, while his grandmother Beatrice Durano was at times Mayor of the municipality ( Municipality ) Danao. His father Ramon D. Durano III was a member of Congress ( Batasang Pambansa ), mayor of Danao, Vice Governor of the province of Cebu and also a Member of the House of Representatives from 1987 to 1998. Numerous other relatives were politically active.

After visiting the Sacred Heart School for Boys and the St. Laurence Academy in Santa Clara (California ), he studied East Asian Studies at the University of Redlands in Redlands (California ) and finished this study in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA Asian Studies ). In addition, he finished 1993, a year of study in Japanese Studies at Waseda University in Tokyo. He then completed a post -graduate degree in law at the Ateneo de Manila University and graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor of Laws ( LL.B. ) from. During his studies, he was not only Exekutivdirektör of the Federation of University Students in the 5th district of Cebu ( Federation of Supreme Student Councils of the Fifth District of Cebu ) and founding president of the charitable foundation for law students at the Ateneo de Manila University ( Ateneo Law School Student Scholarship Foundation ).

His political career began in 1998 elected to the election to the House of Representatives of the Philippines ( Kapulungán ng mga Kinatawán ng Pilipinas or Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso ) and represented there as his father's successor until 2004, the interests of the constituency V ( 5th District ) of Cebu.

In September 2005 he was appointed by President Gloria Macapagal- Arroyo to the Minister of Tourism ( Secretary of Tourism) and belonged to the cabinet until the end of its term in 2010.
