Eight hours are no day is the title of a five -part television series by Rainer Werner Fassbinder. It was produced by the West German Radio and first aired in 1972/73.

Description

Cooper is in the series the daily work and private lives of a group of toolmakers dar. Jochen, played by Gottfried John and Marion ( Hanna Schygulla ), employees of a newspaper are a couple that wants to get married. To the two around, there are various pockets of deprivation such as participation, exorbitant rents, prejudice against migrant workers.

Cooper sat down with the proletarian television series a conscious counterpoint to the then "Heal World Series " of television. In an elliptical narrative style, he shows realistic everyday work of self-conscious workers. He spread a positive, courage -making mood in all conflicts and difficulties of the protagonists.

The five episodes play in Cologne and Mönchengladbach, location was, however, Wuppertal. With the series Hanna Schygulla became known for the first time to a wider audience.

The film's title was a household word to express in German-speaking, that life is more than the working day.
