Ad van Luyn

Adrianus Herman van Luyn SDB - short Ad van Luyn ( born August 10, 1935 in Groningen) is a retired bishop of Rotterdam and since January 2008 Chairman of the Dutch Bishops' Conference. His heraldic motto is: Collabora Gospel.

Life and work

Van Luyn was born the fifth of ten children in Groningen. He went from 1948 to the minor seminary of the Salesians of Don Bosco in Ugchelen and decided, as well as two of his brothers, Salesians of Don Bosco to be. In 1954 he made ​​his first vows. In 1955 he began his philosophical studies for the teaching profession in Twello.
