Adam Elliot

Adam Benjamin Elliot ( born January 2, 1972 in Berwick ) is an Australian animator, director and screenwriter. For his animated short Harvie Krumpet 2004 he won an Oscar. His short films have been performed to date more than 600 times at film festivals around the world.

Life

Elliot grew up on a shrimp farm in the Australian outback. After the farm was gone bankrupt, the family moved to Melbourne. For five years, Elliot painted T -shirts in a shopping center in St Kilda. In 1996, he earned a degree in animation at the Victorian College of the Arts. During his studies, the six-minute short film Uncle, for which he won awards at the Australian Film Institute Awards and at several film festivals originated.

The films Cousin and Brother, which originated in 1999 and 2000, completed the trilogy and also won numerous awards at the AFI Awards and various Australian and international film festivals.

2003, the 23 -minute short film Harvie Krumpet was presented after one year of work. The resulting in kneading and without a computer animated film was awarded for Best Animated Short at the Academy Awards 2004. The film Mary & Max - or shrinking sheep when it rains? was the first feature film by Adam Elliot. In January 2009, he celebrated at the Sundance Film Festival premiere. For the production of the film, which was filmed in stop-motion technique, and five years working and a budget of more than 6 million euros were needed. Also for this film, in which, inter alia, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Toni Collette took the synchronization, Elliot won again a number of awards, including for best feature film in competition AniMovie the Festival of Animated Film Stuttgart 2009.
