Adam Shankman

Adam Michael Shankman ( born November 27, 1964 in Los Angeles, California) is an American dancer, choreographer and also a film director and film producer, who works mainly with the genre of movie entertainment.

Biography

Youth and Education

Adam Shankman was born in 1964 as the son of a higher class family. In an interview in July 2007, he reported that he had not danced before his 18th birthday and his determination and training, therefore, very late championed someone who wants to be a professional dancer. He was educated in Jewish traditions in Brentwood and was after graduating high school for two years students from the Juilliard School in New York. He then worked as a freelance actor and dancer.

Career

Five years after completing his education, he joined music video by Paula Abdul and Janet Jackson in appearance and had. Staged an appearance at the Oscars in 1989 with 24 years and choreographed Shankman jointly with Julian Temple various music videos, including Whitney Houston's I'm Your Baby Tonight. He had more work together with the B -52's, Barry White, Aaron Neville, Chic and Stevie Wonder.

In 1998 he turned Cosmo 's Tale, a short film that was shown at the 1997 Sundance Film Festival. His first major movie was the romantic comedy Wedding Planner - love, engaged, scheduled (2001) starring Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey. From May to August 2007 was Shankman jury member in the third season of the TV show So You Think You Can Dance, the U.S. model of You Can Dance. In autumn 2007, the musical Hairspray ran successfully on the international cinema. With a box office of 119 million U.S. dollars with a budget of about 75 million U.S. dollars, this film is the fourth most successful musical film of the last 35 years. Shankman's new comedy for Walt Disney Pictures, Bedtime Stories, has recently appeared in the trade after its cinema season.

Under the name of Cadillac Ranch 20th Century Fox also plans to produce a television series that explores the life of a successful small-town politician. As the New York Post reports the design of the main character, on distinct similarities to Republican Sarah Palin. Shankman has been announced as the director of the project.

Shankman is openly admitted his homosexuality. In 2002, he dared Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar in Jalisco, Mexico.
