Ādaži Municipality
The district Ādaži ( Ādažu novads ) is located in central Latvia north of the capital Riga.
Population
The district consists of the 11 municipalities ( pagasts ) Alderi, Atari, Ani, Baltezers, Birznieki, Garkalne, Kadaga, Stapriņi, Divezeri Iļķene, Eimuriund and the administrative center Ādaži. 9878 inhabitants ( 2010) live in the district Ādaži.
In 2006, the municipality Ādaži was converted into a district without changing their boundaries. The district area is the polygon of Ādaži, one of the largest military bases in the Baltics. The district is rich in lakes and forest areas. For special areas of conservation, the lakes and Lieluika Mazuika 1999 were declared as occur in these rare plant species. Since 2004 belongs to the vulnerable landscape to the Natura 2000 network.
