Adrián Escudero

Adrián Escudero García ( * November 24, 1927 in Madrid, † March 7, 2011 ibid ) is a former Spanish football player of Atlético Madrid.

Career

Association

The end of 1945 moved Escudero from the Spanish Amateur Club Deportivo Mediodía to Atlético Madrid, where he played for eleven seasons and remained until his career end. In 1950 and 1951 he won the Spanish league with his club.

On March 8, 1953 Escudero shot in the 2:3 defeat to Celta Vigo from the penalty spot the 1000th goal in their history of Atlético Madrid. In 1958 he did not renew his contract and ended his career at age 30. Nevertheless, he has a total of 170 goals in 330 games, only two goals behind Luis Aragonés second place in the time scoring list Atlético.

After his professional career Escudero worked for several years as a youth coach at Atletico Madrid. After his former teammate Rafael García Repullo was dismissed as a coach, he took over the club on December 29, 1963 for a game as interim coach. The game against Valencia was lost with 1:2.

On March 7, 2011 Escudero died at the age of 83 years.

National

Escudero came in three and a half years to three inserts in the Spanish national football team. His debut celebrated on December 7, 1952 in a friendly against Argentina, which was lost with 0:1.

His first and only official game was in qualifying for the 1954 World Cup against Turkey, he scored the equalizer to make it 2-2.
