Adrian Palmer, 4th Baron Palmer

Adrian Bailie Nottage Palmer, 4th Baron Palmer, of Reading in the County of Berkshire ( born October 8, 1951) is a British nobleman who as Baron Palmer is a member of the House of Lords since 1990. With the passing of the House of Lords Act 1999, he lost along with all other Erbpeers ( Hereditary peers) the automatic seat in the House of Lords. However, he was chosen as one of 92 selected Erbpeers that remained after the reform in the House.

Life

Palmer was born the son of Gordon Palmer and was a descendant of Ernest Palmer, who in 1916 and finally in 1933 Baron Baronet Palmer.

He attended Eton College and worked in the family business, the biscuit manufacturer Huntley & Palmers, before he was employed between 1974 and 1977 as a manager at the company Biscuits Belgium. After he completed in 1979 a degree in agriculture from the University of Edinburgh, he began working as a farmer. In the following years he was active from 1980 to 1990 as a member of the Council of the Historic Houses Association for Scotland, and at the same time from 1981 to 1999 the Historic Houses Association.
