Rocar Bucharest (later Rocar ) founded under the name Autobuzul Bucharest in 1953 as a sports club of the Romanian commercial vehicle manufacturer Autobuzul. He first played in the regional league, before he reached the summit for the first time in the national game operation Divizia C in 1968. Two years later Autobuzul could win his season, but could not in the promotion round prevail against Santierul Naval Olteniţa and CFR Paşcani.

In the same season the club was first qualify for the main round in the Romanian Cup, retired from there but against UTA Arad. Just one year later, in 1977, succeeded to rise again. In the following years, Autobuzul could establish in Divizia B and placed always in the middle of his squadron. After the renewed decline in 1985, he managed a year later the return. This time, followed by beginning a battle to avoid relegation, which led to the renewed decline in 1988, but again for direct re-emergence. With one exception, in the 1991/92 season, as a third place was achieved Autobuzul played with the lower midrange.

After renaming of Autobuzul in Rocar in 1993 and the club changed its name and became the independent AS Rocar Bucharest. Also in the following years Rocar placed always in the middle of the Divizia B before him in the 1998/99 season the jump to second place and the associated promotion to the top Romanian football league, the Divizia A (now League 1), succeeded. After relegation in the first year, the club went into a cooperation agreement with the second division FULGERUL Bragadiru. Rocar himself retired mid-season after the dissolution of the company Rocar from playing back.
