In 1957 the organization as part of the democratization efforts in Afghanistan was rebuilt and numbered about 7,000 members. At this time the uncle of King Zahir Shah exercised the power.

The court, headed at that time was King Zahir Shah was very impressed by the organization. Discipline and duty were welcome educational goals for the government, which organized the organization in comparison to other states very tight and almost military. Although the rulers used this organization rather for the stabilization of the state, however, the organization has made a great contribution to youth work in Afghanistan despite this instrumentalization, especially as responsibility, independence, sense of community and equality is concerned, as well as mutual respect and behavior towards girls and women.

Also, some children of the king and members of his court attracted to the gap. The Federal Republic of Germany donated the gap for the Afghan Scout Association. Mainly by the services of the organization benefited the children of the privileged strata of society, especially of the tribe of the king and the state-supporting upper classes, who left the country when the pro-Soviet forces took power.

At the festivals and celebrations of independence in the 1960s and 1970s, the Afghan Scouts and Guides took part in the framework of the structure and organization of cultural events. Mermon Parwin supported the organization, sang some songs and has acted on a scout in the fixed - pavilion of the Boy Scouts organization.

He supported the creation of music groups.

The youth and women's work as well as the music, sports and games of the Boy Scouts organization participated constantly in the years 1964-1973. The clubs, who had now in various parts of the country local groups, set up, for example, more music groups, organized camp and led by other educational leisure activities in which the children and youth crafts, painting and singing learned. However, most of the organization's activities were limited to Kabul.

With the coup of pro-Soviet groups the Scouts organization policing was part of the Interior Ministry and had taken over.

During the years of civil unrest and war, after the coup of 1978, about 10 million people left the country and sought abroad, especially in Pakistan (about 5 million people) and Iran (about 3 million) refuge. Already at the beginning of the unrest years left the privileged strata of the population, the country so that such organizations inland could no longer exist. The name Zarandoi was taken by the Afghan security forces and the organization became a part of the Afghan police.

2001 to today

After the fall of the Taliban in 2002 there have been efforts to establish Pathfinder clubs. Serious interest about the recovery or the establishment of a scouting organization in Afghanistan there seems, however, to date no one to have.

In Germany some alumni have a club APV ( Afghan Scout Association ) established abroad. The association is incorporated into the Association of German Altpfadfindergilden. Tests of the association, which has its headquarters in Lingen, build an organization in Afghanistan, were there previously thought not good.
