Slim African Yellow Wood ( Afrocarpus gracilior ) is the name of a plant species of the genus African yellow wood ( Afrocarpus ) in the family of Podocarpus plants ( Podocarpaceae ). The evergreen tree is native to tropical East Africa.

Description

The Lean African yellow wood grows than evergreen tree, reaching heights of growth of over 20 meters. The bark of the trunk is smooth and purple. The fern-like acting densely packed leaf dress consists of up to 5 centimeters long, slender leaves.

The seeds are surrounded by an aril and where the nature of the ordinary African Yellow Wood ( Afrocarpus falcatus ) is similar, but in the mature state of the aril is red-brown.

Distribution and location

The species is native to the northeastern to eastern tropical Africa. Your deposits are found in Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda in upland forests.

1903 The plant kingdom was the description by the German botanist Robert Knud Friedrich pilgrims under the taxon Podocarpus gracilior published in Adolf Engler's work. David John de Laubenfels ordered the type 1969 under the taxon Decussocarpus gracilior to a different genus. The botanist Christopher Nigel Page presented the kind published in a 1989 publication, finally, under the currently valid taxon Afrocarpus gracilior in the genus Afrocarpus.
