Agaete

It has grown from a town in the northwest of the Canary Island of Gran Canaria. Politically, it is part of the province of Las Palmas. Most inhabitants live in the capital of the same name, which marks the entrance to the Barranco de Agaete. Agaete lies to the west and north-east of Puerto Rico from Las Palmas. The neighboring municipalities are Gáldar in the Northeast and Artenara in the south. The district on the harbor called Puerto de las Nieves. The place is heavily agricultural, due to its fertile cultural landscape. The products were previously shipped over Puerto de las Nieves.

Traffic

From Puerto de las Nieves offers from the shipping company Fred. Olsen Express direct, regular ferry service to Santa Cruz on the neighboring island of Tenerife. Las Palmas is approximately 20 minutes by car on the motorway GC -2. The place is connected to the network of public buses.

In Agaete ends the current state (summer 2013) the far part four-lane coastal island expressway, from the island capital Las Palmas and the airport counterclockwise coming. Closing the gap south to Puerto Mogan and Mogan is planned and partly in labor, but let in light of the financial problems of the Spanish state and the construction industry to wait a few years away. Attractions

In the urban park Huerto de las Flores ( German: Flower garden ) on the outskirts of the town center imposing specimens of tropical and endemic Canarian flora ( dragon trees ) were planted. Important landmark and home mountain has grown from the Monte Tamadaba.
