Agostino Gaetano Riboldi

Cardinal Agostino Gaetano Riboldi ( born February 18, 1839 in Paderno Dugnano, † April 25, 1902 in Ravenna ) was an Italian bishop of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

About childhood and career of the future Cardinal is virtually nothing known. Secured is that Riboldi was ordained in Milan on August 11, 1861 priests. Then Riboldi worked from 1861 to 1877 as a professor of physics, mathematics and natural history at the seminary in Milan and Monza. At the same time he also worked as an archaeologist and recorded as responsible for the identification of the graves of St. Ambrose of Milan, Gervase and Protasius. Later he founded Rivista di matematiche scienze fisiche e, one appearing at regular intervals Science magazine.

On March 12, 1877 Riboldi was appointed Bishop of Pavia. He received his episcopal consecration on April 22, 1877 Lucido Maria Parocchi, the Archbishop of Bologna. On April 15, 1901 his transfer was carried out as archbishop in the Archdiocese of Ravenna.
