Lucido Parocchi

Lucido Maria Cardinal Parocchi (born 13 August 1833 in Mantua, † January 15, 1903 in Rome ) was a Cardinal of the Catholic Church.

Life and work

In 1871 Parocchi was appointed Bishop of Pavia. He received his episcopal consecration on November 5th of that year, the Cardinal Dean and Secretary of the Congregation of the Roman Inquisition and general, Costantino Patrizi Naro Cardinal. Performance of the duties was rendered impossible.

Parocchi was 1877-1882 Archbishop of Bologna. Pope Pius IX. took him on June 22, 1877 cardinal priest with the titular church of San Sisto to the College of Cardinals. In 1884 he became cardinal priest with the titular church of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme, 1889 Cardinal Bishop of Albano and 1896, Cardinal Bishop of Porto e Santa Rufina. From 1896-1903 Cardinal Parocchi held the office of the secretary of the Holy Inquisition.

He was from 1884 to 1899 Cardinal Vicar for the Diocese of Rome and Camerlengo in 1888.

Parocchi participated in the conclave of 1878, Pope Leo XIII. chose to participate.
