Agrarian People's Union

The Bulgarian Agrarian People's Union - People's Union ( Bulgarian Български земеделски народен съюз - Народен съюз / Balgarski Semedelski Naroden Sajus - Naroden Sajus, short BSNS ) is a Christian democratic and conservative- agrarian Small Party of Bulgaria.

The Peasants' Party was founded in 1899 and quickly rose to become a significant factor Bulgarian politics. In the 1920s and 1930s, she has spearheaded under the leadership Aleksandar Stamboliyski to various governments leader. After the Second World War gathered in the BSNS the resistance against the communist regime, the members of the party pursued and detained. From 1997 to 2001, the BSNS was in the ODS coalition in government.

Today the party is part of the electoral alliance Bulgarian People's Union, which in 2005 won 5.7% of the vote and 13 of 240 seats under the leadership of the Liberal Democrats Stefan Sofijanski in the last parliamentary elections on 25 June, which accounted for BSNS which 5 seats. The current chairman of the party is Stefan Litchev. The BSNS is a member of the European People's Party and represented by Stavreva in the European Parliament.

At the 2009 European elections and the Bulgarian national elections on 5 July 2009 BSNS ran as part of the Blue Coalition.
