Ahlum is a town in the tube mountain in the Altmark Salzwedel in Saxony- Anhalt, Germany.

Geography

Ahlum located south of Salzwedel in a lowland area at the Hartau, a tributary of the Jeetze. On the western edge is the Ahlumer lake, which serves as a recreational area. 2012 had Ahlum 222 inhabitants.

History

Ahlum was founded in 1112 first mentioned. On 31 December 2007 there were 494 inhabitants in the municipality Ahlum, which included the districts Nieps and Stöckheim. The community was 16.38 km ².

Through a field amendment agreement, the municipal councils of the municipalities Ahlum decided ( 6 May 2008 ), Bierstedt ( 14 May 2008 ) and pipe Berg ( 23 April 2008 ) that their communities are dissolved and merged into a new community named pipe Mountain. This agreement was approved by the county as a lower municipal supervisory authority and entered into force on 1 January 2009.

Protected species are brook lamprey ( Lampetra planeri ) and bitter (Rhodeus sericeus ).
