Ahmet DavutoÄŸlu

Ahmet Davutoğlu ( born February 26, 1959 County Taşkent Konya Province ) is a Turkish political scientist, politician and the current Foreign Minister of the Republic of Turkey.

He graduated from the prestigious İstanbul Lisesi and the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Boğaziçi Üniversitesi. His master's thesis wrote Davutoğlu at the Institute of Public Administration and his PhD at the Institute of Political Science and International Relations at the same university. Between 1990 and 1995 he worked at the Marmara University. He became a lecturer in 1999 and professor in 1993. Davutoğlu was head of the Institute of International Relations at the Beykent Üniversitesi. Since the election victory of the AKP Davutoğlu was the chief advisor to the Turkish Prime Minister Erdoğan for foreign policy.

Professor Davutoğlu was appointed by the decision of the Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer and Prime Minister Abdullah Gul of 17 January 2003 on the ambassador. On 1 May 2009, the Prime Minister announced the Cabinet revision, according to which Davutoğlu replaced as Foreign Minister Ali Babacan. Ahmet Davutoğlu is considered the strongest member of the new multi-dimensional Turkish foreign policy. His work Stratejik derinlik ( strategic depth ) is considered a standard work of this new foreign policy.
