Aki Sirkesalo

Aki Pekka Antero Sirkesalo ( born July 25, 1962 in Toijala, Finland, † December 26, 2004 in Khao Lak, Thailand) was a Finnish musician and television presenter.

Life

Sirkesalo grew up in his birthplace Toijala, where he played in the brass band of the volunteer fire department trombone. Later he also played trumpet and guitar. The mid-1980s he was a founding member of the band Giddyups. From 1990 he was a member of the a cappella band Veeti & The Velvets.

From 1994 he devoted himself to his solo career. His debut album was released in 1995 and reached number Mielenrauhaa 11 of the Finnish charts. In the coming years, followed by four more studio albums. The last album was Sanasta miestä published posthumously in 2005.

Sirkesalo died with his wife and two children in the tsunami after the earthquake in the Indian Ocean in 2004 in Thailand Khao Lak. The bodies were found in March 2005 and transferred to the identification to Finland, where they were buried in Sirkesalos hometown Toijala.
