Al Anderson (The Wailers)

Albert " Al " Anderson ( born October 11, 1950 in Jersey, New York, USA) is an American guitarist. He was next to Junior Marvin lead guitarist with Bob Marley & The Wailers and also the only U.S. Americans the Wailers.

In his youth, Anderson learned to play the trumpet before switching to electric bass and later to the electric guitar. First, he played with the Centurions. After Chris Wood took notice of the band Traffic on Anderson, invited him this one for shooting in England in Iceland Records. Although the project eventually failed, Anderson was hired permanently by Iceland Records. In 1974 he was mobilized for recordings for Bob Marley's Natty Dread album.

Anderson remained on at the Wailers as the lead guitarist until 1976, when he played with Peter Tosh in the recordings for the albums Legalize It and Equal Rights. In 1978 he returned to the Wailers to play at their Tournees in Europe and the United States. In 1979 he played with Marvin alternately lead guitar.

Even after Marley's death in 1981 remained Anderson up to today in the Wailers, which are still on tour. He also appeared together with Black Uhuru, Don Carlos, Garth Dennis and Derrick Simpson. Since the 1990s, he makes guest appearances at music recordings for other musicians. Thus arose guest appearances for Lauryn Hill and Ben Harper.
