Alain Lemieux

Alain Lemieux ( born May 24, 1961 in Montreal, Quebec ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player and current coach, who is currently in the franchise of the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League contract.

Career

The Center first played from 1978 to 1981 for the Chicoutimi Sagueneens, Montreal Juniors and Trois- Rivières Draveurs in the Canadian Junior Football League QMJHL before he was drafted in the NHL Entry Draft in 1980 as a 96th player in the fifth round by the St. Louis Blues.

After the breakthrough in the NHL failed in both the St. Louis Blues and Quebec Nordiques in, Lemieux joined the 1986/87 season in the Swiss National League A for EHC Olten. There he was behind Mike Nash and Scott Fusco but mostly supernumerary foreigners. He only came in three games for use where he booked two assists. Shortly after the start of the season, he returned to North America. He signed with the organization of the Pittsburgh Penguins, in which his younger brother Mario was under contract. With his brother he never stood together on the ice. Alain Lemieux spent the whole season down to one game in the farm team of the Penguins. In his only NHL insert for the Penguins, his brother was missing due to illness.

It should be the last NHL game of his career. He spent the following years, with the exception of the 1988/89 season, in which he played for Jokerit in Finland Lappeenranta and Oulu Kärpät in the lower leagues in North America. In the 1994 season, Lemieux scored twelve goals for the Pittsburgh Phantoms of the professional inline hockey league Roller Hockey International in 12 games and was preparing another 16 before.
