Alan Hinkes

Alan Hinkes, OBE ( born April 26, 1954) is an English mountaineer from Northallerton in North Yorkshire. He was a 1999 Honorary Fellowship from the University of Sunderland. The honorary doctorate from the University of York was awarded to him in 2007. Hinkes lays claim to being the first British climber who has stood on the summits of all 14 eight-thousanders. His ascent of Cho Oyu is not recognized.
