Albanian Cup

The Albanian Football Cup (Albanian: Kupa e Shqipërisë ) is discharged annually since 1939 cup competition of the Albanian club teams. It is presented each year by the Albanian Football Association Federata Shqiptare e Futbollit organized parallel to the Albanian Cup with the Kategoria Superiore as the highest league.

Current title holder (2012 ) is the KF Tirana. Record winner are the KF Tirana and FK Partizani Tirana.

History

For the first time in 1939 a cup competition was held in Albania. At that time the competition was still called Kupa e Mbretit ( King's Cup ). Because of the outbreak of the Second World War in the same year, no further Cup tournament was played in the series. only in 1948, the cup competition was introduced again, this time under the name Kupa e Republikës ( Cup of the Republic).

Since 1989, a Supercup ( SuperKupa ) will be held in Albania, the start of each season taking place game between the winner of the Albanian Cup and the Cup Winners.

The finals at a glance

Individual Finals were held with return game. The finals of the 1948, 1949 and 1953 were carried out at the beginning of the following year.
