Alberti (Buenos Aires Metro)

Metro Station Alberti is a tunnel station on line A of the Subterráneos de Buenos Aires and is part of the section Plaza de Mayo - Plaza Miserere, which was opened as the first of the network on 1 December 1913. The metro station is located below the Avenida Rivadavia between the streets Calle Larrea / Calle Calle Alberti and Azcuénaga / Calle Matheu. Namesakes of the road and thus the U- Bahn station is Manuel Alberti, priests and decisive person during the Argentine May Revolution. On Alberti station exclusively trains to the west.

History

Metro Station Alberti was taken together with the section between the Plaza de Mayo and Plaza Miserere on 1 December 1913 in operation. Originally equipped with two staggered from each side platforms, kept the U -Bahn trains in both directions. Characteristic color of the station was and is black, some with brown trim. The walls are tiled in white or beige.

Similar to the neighboring station Pasco closed the operating company on August 6, 1953, offset side platform for trains heading east, while the side of the platform for trains to the West remained in operation. One can only speculate about the reasons for the closure. Most likely is the small distance between the neighboring stations of the reason. While the platform served as storage for times of public operator SBASE, the private operating company Metrovías a sub-station decided to set up there.

In 1997, the Metro Station as a National Historic Monument ( monument histórico nacional ) was classified.
