Alejandro Mon y Menéndez

Alejandro Mon y Menéndez ( born February 26, 1801 in Oviedo, † November 1, 1882 ) was a Spanish jurist, politician and Prime Minister of Spain (Presidente del Gobierno ).

Biography

Member of Parliament and Minister of the Treasury

After school he studied law at the University of Oviedo.

His political career began on October 2, 1836 ( Congreso de los Deputies ) with winning election to the Members of Parliament, where he initially until February 1841 represented the interests of the constituency Oviedo.

On December 16, 1837, he was then for the first time Treasury Minister ( Ministro de Hacienda ) appointed to the government by Narciso Heredia Begines, where he remained until 6 September 1838. On September 15, 1843, he was then re-elected Members of Parliament.
