Alex Caffi

Alex Caffi ( born March 18, 1964 in Rovato ) is an Italian former racing driver, who raced in the Formula 1 from 1986 to 1991.

Caffi first started out in Formula 3, where he was victorious in the European Formula 3 Cup, among others, in 1985. He then set off in the period from 1986 to 1991 in Formula 1 He began his career at the Osella team, which he saved from financial ruin thanks to various sponsors. During his 56 missions in Formula 1, a 4th place was his best result. This placement he reached the Grand Prix of Monaco with the team Scuderia Italia in the season 1989.

1992 Caffi was reported for the first race of the season for Andrea Moda Formula, filmed in South Africa, however, only a few test laps before the first free practice in a revised Coloni C4. Then the team was excluded from the World Cup. When you restart the team a few weeks later Caffi was no longer there: He was replaced by Perry McCarthy, who had shopped with new sponsor money into the team. As Caffi later in turn attracted little with new sponsors, team boss Andrea Sassetti McCarthy wanted to replace Caffi; However, the Regulations let another driver change not.
