Alex Sandro da Silva

Alex Sandro da Silva ( born March 10, 1985 in Amparo, usually called Alex Silva ) is a Brazilian footballer who currently stands at CR Flamengo under contract, but on loan at Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte plays.

Career

Association

Alex began his career at AA Ponte Preta, for its youth teams he played until 2003. At the beginning of 2004 he moved to EC Vitória, with whom he won the championship of the State of Bahia in 2003, 2004 and 2005. In October 2005, Silva moved to Iraty Sport Club, of which he was loaned out to Sao Paulo in January 2006. With FC São Paulo, he won the Brazilian championship in 2006, 2007 and 2008. On 27 August 2008, Silva signed a contract with Hamburg until 2013. He was provided as a successor for the Belgian international's Vincent Kompany, who was replaced early in the season to Manchester City. In the first half of the season 2008/ 09, the trained central defender Nigel de Jong was used after injury mainly as a defensive midfielder.

Alex Silva withdrew on July 8, 2009 during a friendly match against Wacker Innsbruck a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee and fell to about eight months.

On January 23, 2010 Alex Silva returned on loan until 30 July 2011 on Sao Paulo.

During the summer break 2011 Alex Silva moved to CR Flamengo. He signed a four -year contract until 2015.

On 29 March 2012 it was announced that Alex Silva is awarded to Cruzeiro.

National

Alex Silva was appointed for the first time in the squad of the Brazilian national football team for the Copa America 2007 in Venezuela. In the third group match against Ecuador, Brazil, he completed his first cap when he came on in the 80th minute for Daniel Alves. In the other games he did not play. Brazil won the tournament with a victory in the final against Argentina. Silva also took part in the Summer Olympic Games in 2008, where it was used in five of six games and won the bronze medal.

Alex Silva's older brother Luisão is also a professional football player and plays for Benfica.
