Alexander Büttner

Alexander Büttner ( born February 11, 1989 in Doetinchem ) is a Dutch footballer who currently stands at Manchester United. He plays the position of left full-back.

Career

In the club

Büttner comes from a football-mad family. He has a brother and two half brothers who also play football. His father is a former football player.

The age of ten Büttner came in the youth team of Ajax Amsterdam and commuted daily between Amsterdam and his Heimartort Doetinchem. In 2005 he moved to Vitesse Arnhem, where he played until 2012. On 15 March 2008, he debuted there under coach Aad de Mos in the first team when he came off the bench in the 4-3 defeat to Twente Enschede in the 5th minute for Haim Megrelishvili. From the following season Büttner played regularly in the first team and soon became a regular player at Vitesse.

On August 21, 2012 Manchester United announced the signing of Büttner. Büttner signed with the Red Devils a five-year contract until 30 June 2017. On September 15, 2012 Büttner completed his first league use for the new club. In the 4-0 victory over Wigan Athletic after a solo run he also scored his first goal in the Premier League and gave the presentation with a goal by Javier Hernández.

In the National Team

Ahead of the Euro 2012 football championship Büttner was nominated by Bert van Marwijk surprisingly instead of Edson Braafheid in the preliminary squad of the Dutch team after Erik Pieters was not available due to injury. In the final squad Büttner, however, was not. Instead, the only eighteen year old Jetro Willems was preferred.
