Rafael Pereira da Silva, called Rafael ( born July 9, 1990 in Petrópolis ) is a Brazilian footballer who currently stands at Manchester United. Rafael, who played in his youth in the Brazilian club Fluminense is used mainly as a right defender, but is also the right of midfield applicable. Rafael is also the twin brother of Fábio da Silva, who stands at Cardiff City under contract. In addition to the Brazilian both also have Portuguese nationality.
Career
In the club
His professional career began in 2005 with Fluminense, where he and his brother were eventually discovered by scout Les Kershaw 2005. In the National Team
Rafael won in 2005 with the Brazilian U- 15 team together with his twin brother, the U-15 South American Championship. Two years later both attended the U-17 South American Championship, which Brazil also finished as the tournament winner and thereby qualified for the U -17 World Cup 2007 in South Korea. At the World Cup finals Rafael formed with his brother Fábio the Außenverteidigerduo, both of which are highlighted as "fast backs with good technique and attacking instincts " in the official tournament report. The tournament ended for the team in the second round after a 0-1 defeat against Ghana.
In 2012 he took part with the Olympic Team at the Olympic Games in London, in which Brazil wanted to win for the first time the gold medal. In the final, Brazil but was defeated with 1:2 of the Mexican team. Rafael came in all six games for, scoring in the first game against Egypt, the first Turniertor for Brazil.
