Alexander Payne

Alexander Payne ( born February 10, 1961 in Omaha, Nebraska) is an American film director and screenwriter.

Life

Payne comes from a family of Greek ancestors who changed her last name Papadopoulos in Payne. He attended Creighton Prep High School in Omaha. Prior to 1990 at the UCLA Film School in Los Angeles received his degree, he studied Spanish and History at Stanford University. 1991 Payne turned his debut film. For his film Sideways, which he wrote as all his previous films with Jim Taylor, he has so far received 34 awards. Payne has also been engaged more frequently in order to revise problematic scenarios, such as Jurassic Park III.

In his films as a director Payne worked so far always together with the cutter Kevin Tent.

Payne was married on 1 January 2003 with the actress Sandra Oh. Meanwhile, the couple has separated, however.

In 2012 he was appointed to the jury of the 65th International Film Festival of Cannes.
