Nebraska (film)

Nebraska is an American film drama directed by Alexander Payne from 2013 with Bruce Dern in the lead role.

Action

Woody Grant, an older and slightly senile alcoholic who falls for a sales letter and believes to have won a million dollars. To collect the alleged prize, he wants to travel from Montana to Nebraska. After he has done several times walking on the road and each time was returned back home, finally, his son David agreed to drive him to Nebraska. David, who has just been dumped by his girlfriend, agrees to spend some time with his father.

On the way to Lincoln they make a stop in Hawthorne, Woody's hometown. It does not take long before word gets out that Woody is soon a millionaire. For the most part, living in modest circumstances residents of Hawthorne, it is the biggest event for a long time. But soon try strangers as relatives, getting hit part of Woody's putative fortune. When they finally get the sales letter but to face, they mock Woody for his credulity.

Once Woody learns in Lincoln that he has won no money, David met his father whose greatest desires of its own funds by buying him a pickup truck and a compressor. On the way back they go again by Hawthorne and let the inhabitants believe that Woody had yet come to wealth.

On the realization of the film, the film production companies Blue Lake Media Fund, Bona Fide Productions and Echo Lake Productions were involved.

Nebraska was among others in Lincoln and Plainview, both located in Nebraska, USA, shot from October 2012 to 7 December 2012. The film budget was estimated at 13 million U.S. dollars.

The film was presented in 2013 already at several film festivals the audience, including for the first time on 23 May 2013, the International Film Festival in Cannes, on 28 September 2013, the Hamburg Film Festival and on 10 October 2013, the New York Film Festival. The theatrical release in the United States was on November 15, 2013; in Germany he was on 16 January 2014 in Austria on 4 February 2014.

Reception

The film was rated Nebraska overwhelmingly positive. The film a positive rating on the website Rotten Tomatoes peaked at 91 percent of the reviewers.
