Alexander Ramati

Alexander Ramati ( * 1920 in Brest, † 18 February 2006 in Montreux ) was a Polish -born, internationally active, screenwriter, director and film producer.

Ramati began in the mid -1960s to work as a producer and director. His first major film was the American- Israeli co-production Sands of Beersheba (1966 ) with Diane Baker in the lead role. In 1973 he wrote the screenplay with Ben Barzman the German -Israeli co-production you are free, Dr. Korczak, Janusz Korczak's a biography ( starring Leo Genn ). His best-known film is The Assisi Underground (The Assisi Underground) from 1985 with Ben Cross, James Mason, Irene Papas and Maximilian Schell in the lead roles. Most of his films dealt with the Second World War and the so-called Third Reich.
