Ben Barzman

Ben Barzman (* October 19, 1911 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, † December 15, 1989 in Santa Monica, California, United States) was an American screenwriter.

Life

Ben Barzman began in 1943 with the film You're a Lucky Fellow, Mr. Smith with his work as a screenwriter and wrote in the next thirty years the screenplays of some 25 films.

He also created the screenplay for the film Storm of Steel (1945 ) and was married to Norma Barzman, who also worked as a screenwriter. As they were suspected in the late 1940s as communists and put on the blacklist, they could no longer practice their profession in the United States. They moved in 1949 to Europe, where Ben Barzman worked in the film industry and made ​​the acquaintance of Vittorio De Sica, Sophia Loren and Peter Sellers.
