Alexander Tschäppät

Alexander Markus Tschäppät ( born April 16, 1952 in Berne; homeland justified in Bözingen ) is a Swiss politician (SP).

Life

The son of former Bernese Mayor Reynold Tschäppät studied law and became an advocate. He was 1982-2000 president of the court in Bern, next 1993-2005 President of the Swiss Mercantile Association. From 1979 to 1991 he belonged to the City Council at (legislature ). From 1991 to 2003 he was a National.

Since 2001 Tschäppät belongs to the Bernese council; to 2004, he led the Directorate of Planning, Transport and civil engineering. On 28 November 2004 he was elected with 61.3 percent of the vote on the new Bern's city president ( as of 1 January 2005), he distanced Kurt water traps ( FDP ) by more than 8,000 votes. On 30 November 2008, he was confirmed with 58.7 percent of the vote ( 19'797 ) before Barbara Hayoz (FDP, 35.9 percent, 12'116 votes). The Swiss Parliament elections in 2011 he was again elected to the National Council. Was elected for the third time in a row to the Bernese Mayor Tschäppät on 25 November 2012. He took 69.6 percent of the vote ( 17'628 ).

Tschäppät has two grown sons and lives with his partner in Schosshalde quarter.
