Alexis, Landgrave of Hesse-Philippsthal-Barchfeld

Alexis Wilhelm Ernst von Hesse - Philippsthal - Barchfeld (* September 13, 1829 in Steinfurt, † August 16 1905 in Herleshausen ) was Landgrave of Hesse - Philippsthal - Barchfeld out of the house of Hesse.

Life

Alexis was a son of the Landgrave Charles of Hesse - Philippsthal - Barchfeld (1784-1854) from his second marriage to Sophie (1794-1873), daughter of Prince Ludwig Wilhelm Ernst Geldricus of Bentheim and Steinfurt. He succeeded his father in 1854 as Landgrave of Hesse - Philippsthal - Barchfeld.

Alexis was a Prussian general of the cavalry à la suite, since 1866 a member of the local stalls in Kassel and support of the Prussian Black Eagle.

Hesse-Cassel was including Hesse - Philippsthal - Barchfeld annexed in 1866 by Prussia and Alexis received a pension of 300,000 marks, and the castles of Hanau, Rotenburg and Schönfeld together with Landgrave Ernst von Hessen- Philippstal 1880 from the Hessian Fideikommiss as Privatfideikommiss Philipp Thaler lines.

Alexis married on 27 June 1854 in Charlottenburg Luise ( 1829-1901 ), daughter of Prince Carl of Prussia. The marriage remained childless and " force oberbischöflicher violence by sovereign pronouncement of the Elector of Hesse " was divorced on March 6, 1861. As head of the House of Hesse- Philippsthal - Barchfeld followed him, Clovis (1876-1954), son of his brother Wilhelm ( 1831-1890 ).
