Ali-Ollie Woodson

Ali - Ollie Woodson, actually Ollie Cregget, ( born September 12, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan, † May 30, 2010 in California ) was an American soul singer, who was known primarily for his work with The Temptations.

Life

Ali - Ollie Woodson's musical career began in the early 1970s with Bill Pinkney 's Original Drifters. He then moved to Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, and also sang on the later albums by Teddy Pendergrass. He was also a backing vocalist for Whitney Houston, Rachelle Ferrell and Aretha Franklin.

In 1984, he joined the Temptations. It replaced the former lead singer Dennis Edwards for the album Truly for You. Produced by Earth, Wind and Fire guitarist Al McKay recorded music is considered the strongest Temptations album in the 1980s and secured Woodson's fate in the soul band. As a songwriter, he contributed to the hit single Treat Her Like a Lady. Also on the album To Be Continued ... (1986 ) Woodson is involved, then Edwards came for a year back to the Temptations. After his exit again Woodson remained until 1996 one of the main vocalist of the group.

In the later 1990s, Woodson again worked as a backing singer and founded the cover band Emperors of Soul, presented the Temptations and Motown classics on stage. In 2001 he released his solo album Right Here All Along. 2003 Woodson came as a duet partner of Aretha Franklin on at the concert special Rhythm, Soul & Love for the PBS television. By 2008, Woodson still has performed with several groups, among others, The Temptations Review with Dennis Edwards. Despite rumors of a serious disease of Woodson was published in 2009 his second solo album, Never Give Up, and he stepped continue to live on. Woodson died on May 30, 2010 in Southern California from the effects of leukemia.
