The University of Allahabad ( इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय ) is a state university in Allahabad in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. She has successfully applied for the promotion of a "Center of Excellence" in the field " Behavioural Cognitive Sciences".
History
The University was founded on 23 September 1887 by William Muir as Muir Central College and was at that time according to the University of Bombay, University of Calcutta, University of Madras and the University of the Punjab (now in Lahore, Pakistan), the 5th University founded in British India.
