Chandra Shekhar

Chandra Shekhar (Hindi: चन्द्रशेखर, Candraśekhar; born July 1, 1927 in Ibrahimpatti, Uttar Pradesh, † July 8, 2007 in New Delhi ) was dated 10 November 1990 to June 21, 1991 Prime Minister of India.

Biography

Shekar studied political science at the Allahabad University. Since the early 1950s he became involved in the socialist movement. It was 1962 in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of Parliament elected and then moved to the Congress Party. There he remained a member until 1967. 1969, and he gave the magazine " Young India " out, which encouraged the spread of socialist ideology.

In the early 1970s he was appointed within the party between the center of the resistance against Indira Gandhi's dictatorial administration. This opposition was his incarceration with other like-minded result. After his release, he was elected the first President of the Janata Party in 1977. The Janata Party led from 1977 to 1979 under a coalition government Prime Minister Morarji Desai on. In 1980, Gandhi returned to power. Shekhar graduated in 1983 with a passage of more than 2,500 miles from Kanyakumari to New Delhi attention to the problems of rural India.

In 1988, the Janata party united with several other opposition parties to establish the Janata Dal party under the leadership of Vishwanath Pratap Singh, Singh later became prime minister.

Shekhar organized a grouping within the new party, stepped out with her and founded the " Socialist People's Party ." With the help of some voices from the Congress Party, the Bharatiya Janata Party and the two communist parties he became prime minister five days later.

His office as prime minister, he had to give up because the Congress Party ending the support for him after half a year. He remained a member of the Indian Parliament ( Lok Sabha ) and led the Samajwadi Janata Party.

Chandra Shekhar leaves behind his wife Duja Devi and his two sons Pankaj and Neeraj Singh.
