Alness

Alness is a town in the Scottish Highland region. It is in the traditional county of Ross -shire, which belonged to the administrative county of Ross and Cromarty 1889-1975. Alness is located about 13 km north-east of Dingwall, 20 km north of Inverness and 5 miles west from Invergordon near the Cromarty Firth, an inlet of the Moray Firth located and recorded in 2001, 5186 inhabitants. The eponymous river flows near Alness Alness in the Cromarty Firth.

With Teaninich and Dalmore are two whiskey distilleries in Alness. In neighboring Invergordon Invergordon are with Ben Wyvis and the former distillery to find two more whiskey producing companies.

Traffic

Alness is located about one kilometer north of the A9, which crosses about 7 km south-west of the Cromarty Bridge the Cromarty Firth. The train station of Alness is regularly served by the Far North Line.
